As many may already know, Fantage experienced a massive two day blackout following rumors that the website was closing on July 16th. This fueled a bunch of speculation that the site was closing down, which angered a lot of members who paid for Gold and membership. Fantage released this post on their Facebook page following the problem:
Whew! That has to be a relief to many like myself who are paying members of the website. It seems that we’re all in the clear for now, and I haven’t gotten any reports of accounts being hacked. A DDoS attack is a virus that aims to shut down the servers that run the website. As far as I know, Fantage is an independent website that isn’t owned by a bigger platform like Sony or Disney. Therefore, it can be a target for these kinds of things. But, with the entire thing out of the way, it seems like it’s business as usual. How are they tackling the upset? With…. a new party?
And a long one too! From July 9th to the 22nd, we’ll be having a new Blackout event. This seems to be an annual thing now, with one happening in 2012 and again in 2014. For some reason, they skipped over 2013 though. It’s funny how they introduce it right after having a DDoS that literally brought the site into a blackout. Advanced marketing scheme? Who knows! The outfits look pretty cute, though. I’m suspecting they’re only showing the ones you need gold for, though. Personally, I find it stupid that we need gold in order to get all of the limited items for an event. Most of the items I buy, I only wear for the event anyway! Share your thoughts that you have with some items being gold only, as well as what you think about the new blackout and the DDoS attack yesterday and the day before!
